It is critical to take immediate action upon the acknowledgment of an addiction. Damascus House admits patients who have been diagnosed with a substance addiction and who are referred from physicians, social workers, public health agencies and courts. We also accept patients directly from detox centers and hospital facilities. Our staff understands the intricacies of substance abuse issues and works from the beginning to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation.
Upon diagnosis of a substance addiction, Damascus House residents are enrolled in a number of programs that incorporate bio-, psycho-, social and cognitive aspects of recovery. No stone is left unturned with our staff. Residents form strong bonds with their peers in group counseling, recover family ties that may have been damaged in family-oriented sessions and have the ability to leave behind other addictions (like smoking and gambling) in intense classes focused on those habits, in addition to other types of counseling.
Successful completion of the program does not mean that our staff forgets our courageous residents. Each patient receives individualized care with regards to job and educational training and assistance in any other area of life for which our residents have concern.
